The Executive Office of Education, a successor to the Dept. of Education, Board of Regents of Higher Education, and associated bodies, was established in 2008. Through departments of early education and care, elementary and secondary education, and higher education, each directed by a commissioner, the office, headed by a secretary of education, works to connect programs and policies across the entire public education system of Massachusetts. Photographs, slides, and illustrations series documents the interaction of the office with various institutions, chiefly elementary and secondary schools, primarily through visitations by secretaries of education S. Paul Reville (July-Dec. 2012) and Matthew H. Malone (2013-Jan. 2015), who were sometimes accompanied by Gov. Deval Patrick. Descriptive paragraph included in metadata for some images.

Public relations and communication records series consists of Tweets as posted on Twitter and other platforms, by secretaries S. Paul Reville (May 2010-2012) and Matthew H. Malone (2013-Jan. 2015).
